We didn't stay here, but we've been in Bascom Lodge many times while up at the summit. From Memorial Day weekend until October the lodge is open. The memorial tower outside has been newly rehabbed. The lodge itself has a small gift shop. The restaurant is excellent, and you can can also purchase bottled water or or drinks, excellent if you've hiked up one of of the many trails that lead to the summit.
Great, cozy place to warm up on a chilly day on top of Mt Greylock! The rustic intererior is warm and inviting, and the kitchen makes delicious comfort food and mulled cider (also salads for the healthy folk). Large bathrooms. Great view (if it is clear on top the mountain). I look forward to heading back.
Great place. Reception could be a bit more welcoming. Nice view of sunset from the cafe on top of Mt. Greylock.
You don't expect great food at a humble lodge on the top of a mountain. You should. Everything made from scratch and friendly, helpful staff.
We hiked for 5 miles and I was looking forward to a nice meal. We came and the dirty kitchen was on full view, the chili hot dogs came with a slice of bread for a bun, and no chili, the guacamole salad was just leaves with 2 tablespoons of guacamole, and the Mac and cheese came cold. Never coming here again. :)
